For this months news I just wanted to do a little shout out for our dance classes that are held in Seaham. I know its not hard to find a local dance class, there really is loads of great dance schools about offering various genres of dance...
When I was at Demontfort University I was introduced to contemporary dance for the very first time and boy did I love it! I spent 3 years studying this genre of dance and that really ignited my passion for it. I loved watching it, dancing it, choreographing it, everything about it!
When I finished university its not something I carried on with as I became a mum for the first time and that changed many of my well laid plans! (Obviously it was great becoming mum, I just mean priorities changed!)
Fast forward to when my girls started dancing, I was desperate to get them involved in contemporary, I wanted to see if they had the same passion for it as me, but unfortunately there was no where local to us that ran classes, so when it was the right time for Starz to expand again I found an amazing choreographer to come in and run the classes under the Starz Drama School umbrella...
Now are classes are run every Saturday 3.15-4.15 at Seaham Leisure centre, every 8 week block Emily focuses on a different contemporary choreographer ensuring the children are getting a wealth of knowledge and learning lots of new techniques week in week out.
In the new year we also have a intense 2 hour contemporary workshop on 14th January 10-12 spaces are very limited booking is essential.
Why not try something different, there are so many great genres of dance to explore, contemporary is most definitely my favourite one!
